What Not To Do On New Year’s Eve

It was brewing in my head, the deep and meaningful New Year’s Eve story. It was going to be called “Peace Of Mind”, and be about how we should all, in our (theoretically) universal desire for world peace, begin by finding peace within ourselves. I had a vision of the picture for the opening…a graceful luminara lantern, back-lit by a magnificent sunset, floating out over the water. What I wound up with was a little different, another chapter in the book of best-laid plans gone wrong. Luckily, I did not wind up in jail, and the resulting story goes like this…

Some summers, I feel the pull of the mountain, and I cannot stay away. This year, the ocean has called to me like a siren song, one that cannot be ignored. With an extra day added to my holiday weekend, and Marc away on a business trip, I thought this would be a perfect time to take Carter to my favorite ocean beach for a night of camping, just the two of us. The Importance of Lungwort

I woke up this morning to the sound of voices in the house. Not unusual, since my husband gets up early and likes to watch the news. I find it unsettling, the sound of strange voices, and whatever dream I am having just before waking up usually takes a strange turn as I drift from dreamland to somewhat awake. …I Have Been a Stranger in A Strange Land

I made a solo trip to New York last week, to visit my favorite aunt. I have been to New York a few times, and have visited most of the tourist attractions at one time or another. My aunt is 90, and suffering from some (hopefully temporary) health issues, and my mission this trip was to visit her, accompany her on as many medical and other appointments as possible, and to offer assistance in whatever areas I could.
